Viewing it strictly from an evolutionary or Darwinian perspective, there's no denying that the biological urge to perpetuate the species exists and it has shaped the way we developed as human beings. There is also no denying that human beings have the ability to think around just about anything, regardless of evolution: we have the ability to fly without wings, for instance. And so it is with childbearing and relationships. There will always be those who have relationships and/or children and there will be those who do not, following the dictates of their individual resources, logic, and emotional needs. What I don't understand, exactly, is why people at large cannot see that "it is what it is" and let it be. If we can defy biological destiny and fy and send people to the moon, you'd think the leap in logic to 'live and let live' would be easy to make.
Our imaginations should be up to the task, don't you think?
